Eligibility for UPSC Civil Service Exam in India
Nationality is one of the Eligibility for UPSC:
1. For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. For the Indian Revenue Service, a candidate must be one of the following:
a) A citizen of India.
b) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Srilanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
All candidates should be a qualified graduate from a recognized university of central, state, deemed, Correspondence education or distance or a qualification recognized by the government of India. Candidates who have got passed out recently can also apply, but they have to submit proof of their eligibility before main examination. Candidates who have failed in the final year examination will not be allowed to attend the exam.
Details of eligible Education Qualification for the UPSC applicants
Candidates who have passed the final exam of the MBBS degree (No need to complete internship).
Candidates who have passed in the final year of CA, ICSI and ICWAI. Graduates from recognised private universities.
Graduates from foreign Universities recognised by the association of Indian Universities. Can apply for the UPSC Civil Service Examination.
Age Limit Eligibility for UPSC:
Minimum 23 years and maximum 32 years of general candidates.
For OBC upper age limit is 35 years.
For SC/ST upper age limit is 37 years.
Limits to Attempt UPSC CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION:
Applicants are limited to attempt for Civil Service Examinaiton for a certain number of times. The details of the limitations are given below.
For General and OBC under the creamy layer it is limited to 4 attempts.
For OBC non creamy layer it is limited to 7 attempts and
For SC/ST candidates there is no limitation.
1. Single paper attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be considered to be an attempt at the Examination.
2. If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she shall be believed to have made an attempt at the Examination.
3. However the disqualification/cancellation of candidature, the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt.
