What is SSC CHSL Exam? Who conducts it?
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a Government of India organisation to recruit various vacant jobs in different Ministries and Government bodies of India. CHSL stands for Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination. SSC conducts this exam for qualified candidates in 10+2 in recognised board to fill up vacancies in various government bodies. CHSL exam is conducted for the recruitment of Group B and Group C jobs. Most of the vacancies in CHSL examination every year are Data entry operators (DEO) and Lower Division Clerks (LDC). Previously SSC recruited the candidates for the post of Data Entry operator through SSC DEO exam. And the other posts are filled through a metric level exam up to 2009.
How CHSL Exam started by the SSC?
In the year 2005, Minimum eligibility for combined Metric Level Exam was 10th Class (Pass). At that time the second administrative Reform’s commission recommended to increase the eligibility to Higher Secondary Level. For that reason, SSC DEO exam and LDC exam were combined to SSC CHSL exam. CHSL exam was first conducted on 27.11.2010 and 28.11.2010. And the recruitment notification for this SSC CHSL examination was released on 17.7.2010.
Pay Scale for the Candidates selected through the SSC CHSL Examination

The estimated pay scale details are given below as per the location and other things.
Estimated salary for the two posts DEO and LDC:
Data Entry Operator: Rs. 31,815.00/-
Lower Division Clerk: Rs. 25,416.00 /-
If the candidate is posted in a Metro city.
IF the candidate is not living in Government quarters.
If the employ is not using Government vehicle.
If the candidate is posted in unclassified city
if candidates is living in Government quarters
If the candidate is using Government vehicle, the salary can be as below:
Data Entry Operator: Rs. 26,703.00/-
Lower Division Clerk: Rs. 21,114.00 /-
Selection Procedure of the recruitment through SSC CHSL applied Candidates:
Candidates who have applied for the CHSL recruitment notification should write an examination conducted by the staff selection commission. Qualified candidates based on their performance in the written examination will be called for the next level test called descriptive test. Qualified candidate in the qualified candidates in the descriptive test will be called for the skill test (computer knowledge and Typing skills). Finally, qualified candidates will be appointed in the relevant post by the staff selection commission.
